When we developed Dubble in the beginning of 2010, there were no iPhones with tall, 4 inch displays like the display of the iPhone 5. Because it was never in the game to begin with and Dubble is no longer in active development, we deem it too difficult and risky to add it in now.
We do acknowledge that the game would be better if it supported tall displays, but we hope you understand our decision not to make this change.
Our new bubble shooter, Bubbles Under the Sea, supports tall displays and is available as a free download.
The update released on December 19th (version 1.8.5) fixes a problem that caused excess GameCenter data to build up within the app. The problem where bubbles seem to wait a bit, especially before exploding, is a result of the game cleaning up that excess data in the background. This is a one-time process that will free up a sizable chunk of space on your device, but on some devices it causes ‘hesitating bubbles’ or jerky graphics behavior while the cleaning up is going on.
If you look at the space Dubble is using (by going to System Settings -> General -> Usage), you will probably find that Dubble uses a lot more space than ± 45MB, which is the actual size of the app.
The solution is to open Dubble and give it some time to clean up the excess data in the background. Depending on the size of your Dubble installation and the speed of your device, this process may take up to one or two hours per gigabyte of excess data. The result will be that the excess data is cleaned up, giving you back free space on your device, and a Dubble experience that is as fast and smooth as you are used to.
Dubble requires at least OpenGL ES 2.0 to run. When Dubble is installed on a device that is too old, the screen remains black while the music is playing. For a discussion about this issue, please see this thread on our support site.
This problem is only known to occur on iPod touches of the 2nd generation that were sold by Apple alongside iPod touches of the 3rd generation. For more info on that, please see this thread on the Apple forums.
Dubble is officially supported on the following devices; if you experience this problem on any of these, something else is wrong, so let us know:
- iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5
- iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad mini
- iPod touch, 3rd generation or newer
- Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or newer
We have decided not to add state saving & restoration to Dubble while developing it in the beginning of 2010. Because it was never in the game to begin with and Dubble is no longer in active development, we deem it too difficult and risky to add it in now.
We do acknowledge that the game would be better if it supported state restoration, but we hope you understand our decision not to make this change.
Restore your previous purchases by tapping ‘Restore Purchases’ in the Support menu. This will unlock all available modes, even if you’ve only purchased a single mode in the past, at no extra charge. Think of it as our way to thank you for supporting us by playing Dubble :).

If you have purchased the full version of Dubble, you can re-download the app on any of your devices at no extra charge, as long as you use the Apple ID that you used to do the initial purchase with. Simply search the App Store for Dubble and install the app from there, or restore Dubble from an iTunes backup if you want to restore your high scores.
If you have unlocked one or more modes in Dubble Free, you can restore your previous purchases by tapping the ‘Restore Purchases’ button in the ‘Support’ screen available from the main menu.
